- Feelings: Read the book Feelings. Make a list of feelings on the board. Make a list of pronouns on the board. Draw a simple stick figure diagram next to each pronoun. Ask students to refer to the lists on the board to answer questions such as "What is a feeling that begins with /s/?" or "What is a pronoun for one man?"
- Intro to Texting: Teach students to use their phones for a simple text messaging exchange: "Hi Abdullah, how are you?" "I'm good, how are you?" (add an emoji as a bonus). If desired, set up a Google Voice number so students can send texts to a number that is not your personal phone number.
- Healthy Relationships: Discuss healthy relationships. Make a list of words that describe a healthy relationship (honesty, trust, respect, communication, equality). Use Google Translate to look up the words in native languages. If appropriate, discuss domestic violence including consequences of domestic violence for the perpetrator and community resources or organizations that can help victims.
