​Alphabet Packet

This packet is the same as the first 20 pages of the book abc English Phonics, Level 1. 

​Print double sided and use three staples down the left side to make a booklet.

Large flashcards
Small flashcards with photos

Print a set for each student to take home. Cut apart and keep in an envelope or sandwich bag.

​Create matching activities with small flashcards.

Alphabet Chart

Print a class set of charts for regular use and keep in plastic sheet protectors.

​Chant the alphabet to practice letter names. Dictate a sound and have students find and point on the chart.

Laminate and hang on the classroom wall above the board. 

Use as a reference during teaching. Chant the alphabet sounds as part of a class opening routine.

​Print the grid side only, then use colored pencils to color code by vowel sound to make a pattern.

Print 2-sided, cut apart, and sort into vowel groups.

Print each side separately to create matching games.

Vocabulary Charts & Flashcards

Give each student a copy of the chart and review the words. Call out a vocabulary word and have students point to their chart and respond with the appropriate number. Call out a number and have students respond with the corresponding vocabulary word. 

​Use the flashcards in Role Play activities. For example, with the Shopping flashcards, have a student draw a card, then Role Play a simple dialogue about "I need to get ____. How much?"

Give each pair of students a set of flashcards. Have them spread the cards out on the table, then give each other directions such as "Give me the..."

Make 4 copies of a flashcard set and play a "Go Fish!" style game. Have students ask "Do you have..." to try to collect sets of cards.
